Featured Poem: how to say good-bye

By Nancy Keats Benson
Central New York Branch

to a dear friend
gone
no more suggestions
ways to handle
difficulties
seeing before covid
on zoom
afterwards

a big hole
is left
startling
pictures
only in memories

hoping
above hope
that you are
at peace
and with loved ones

not alone
not worrying
about this
and that

and finding
special ties
in new places
with open arms

  1. Nancy Haskett says:

Nancy, sadly, this poem is very timely, as we have recently lost a new member of our branch. I like the way you offer optimism to the one who is gone, hoping for peace, finding love and relationships in a new place, and no longer bothered by daily distractions. For those of us who remain, however, there is definitely a large hole.

This is lovely, Nancy. Any of us who have lost loved ones can relate. I am feeling it in
    my heart right now.
