Featured Poem: Seeking a Theory of Everything

By Sharon E. Ludan

“A Theory of Everything…is a(n) all-encompassing
coherent theoretical framework of physics that fully
explains and links together all aspects of the universe.”
—Wikipedia

There may be a clue
in the clouds today,
sliding in overlapping layers,
converging, then dispersing,
exchanging secrets
(if only I could decipher!)

Or maybe that lone kestrel
soaring in ever widening circles
is sending a message
to mortals marooned below.
But he slips through a cloud before I can catch it.

Thin tops of trees
read the curve of the wind,
whispering a hint
in a language I’ve yet to master.

The waves taunt me,
flowers tease;
the hills stand immutable in stony silence.

Still I watch,
listen,
while the moon cuts the breakers
with a blissful night sigh.
