winter solstice arriving
shortest day and longest night
silent trees gather forces
for returning light
lighter, longer, brighter days
saunter through the winter gloom
light triumphs over darkness
renewal awaits

I especially like the line “silent trees gather forces” – I never thought of them that way, rather that they seemed just trying to survive. I really like the idea of looking at winter trees the way you present them here – which could extend to people, too.
Beautifully written, love the sense of rebirth and renewal!
Beautiful poem that transcends the seasons. Really sets the mood.
What a lovely and hope-filled poem! I like the way light is emphasized.
Thank you, Sara, for this softly uplifting poem, reminding us that LIGHT will return!
