Featured Poem: Mist on the Water

By Donna Puglisi
Cape Canaveral Branch, Florida

Steaming the cold lake’s shallow waters,

Sheets of mist creep slowly over the glassy surface.

Gray fingers stroke her face, barely touching, with a canvas of ghostly white.

Not a ripple emerges under the gauzy blanket, as if sleeping in a trance.

Subtle is the breath of a fresh morning breeze,

Dancing lightly on the lake,

Delicate ballerina skimming the water.

Frost hugs the grass, remnants of night’s cold breath linger,

as morning’s sun smiles and melts her to dewy tears.

Donna, I could actually feel my mind and body relax while I read your ethereal poem. I was there, moving with the mist…

Thank you, Andrea! I wake up very early in the morning and just listen. It’s amazing what that does to calm the spirit! It is mental yoga!
