Featured Art: Same Root, Different Blooms

Artist’s Statement

“Same Roots, Different Blooms” is a little celebration of how even flowers that start from the same place can turn out completely unique. Think sunflowers, but with a twist — bold outlines; warm petals in all kinds of orange, yellow, and red shades; and leaves that have that lively, textured feel. The deep blue background really sets off the colors, making everything jump off the canvas. What I loved about creating this was blending different painting styles all in one piece — playing with shapes and forms that aren’t quite one thing or the other. It’s a reminder that sharing where you come from doesn’t mean you all have to grow the same way. Sometimes being different is exactly what makes the bloom worth noticing.
