Featured Poem: Eclipse Astro Philia

By Audrey McHugh
Long Island Branch

The greatest show on earth

in the center ring of heaven,

a celestial stage of sun and moon

in the amphitheater of coronal splendor,

a hymn to the love that moves the sun and stars

casting its penumbra

as a sunbeams song ‘I change but I cannot die.’

A prayerful chorus

in the aurora of God’s cathedral,

that sweet sanctity of space,

a miracle play of celestial drama

for ‘All the world’s a stage’

set before an audience

that whispers a profound soliloquy.

This poem certainly sets the celestial stage! I love the line declaring that we change but do not die. A well-crafted poem of praise and hope.
