Featured Art: The Pursuit of Clarity

“The Pursuit of Clarity” by Meredith Bobb, Des Moines Branch

Acrylic, 40 x 30

Artist’s Statement

“In my work, I paint in layers of acrylic paint, incrementally discovering unique faces and organic forms. The layers of high-flow paint, in addition to linework with acrylic markers, help create dynamic environments of energy and movement. Painting gives me a unique space where I can slow down daily life and have quiet moments of introspection and process my experiences. I hope to give the viewer the opportunity to relate to imagery they are unfamiliar with and take some time for themselves when connecting to my work.”

A very powerful painting. The more one looks, the more is revealed. The painting is intriguing. I appreciate a picture that keeps me engaged.

To me, this looks like bones stretching through the earth to the skies, like they are growing and becoming something more alive. I can also see a Pen Woman writing choreography and another Pen Woman creating music to go along with the movement in this intensely rich and interesting work of art that draws the observer inside its world.
