Featured Art: Sepia Tree

Sepia photograph of a tree reflected in water

“Sepia Tree” by Susan S. Buzzi, Fort Lauderdale Branch (Florida)

Large-format film, 24 x 30 inches

Artist’s Statement:

I see myself as a social barometer with the goal to achieve “a consciousness” for the viewer.

I think of art as a powerful tool with the potential to heal, protect, inspire, motivate, reveal, and impassion us all. Opening the imagination and encouraging it to soar creates avenues for participation; and surely, strengthening participation leads to commitment in everything we do.

As an artist and educator, I feel it is my responsibility to create meaningful dialogue in what I do, and always to provide integrity and authenticity. And perhaps most importantly, as an Earth guardian, providing and encouraging protection and conservation for our precious environment is critical during these extraordinary times. The opportunity to strive to preserve our humanity, conquer adversity, and foster an appreciation and understanding for, and through the arts, is my privilege.

  1. Exquisite photograph! I still love film photography. Thank you for continuing this tradition! Although I am a painter, my daughter is a fine art photographer. Since she is unable to set up a darkroom in her circumstances she has worked to make her digital pieces as lush and timeless as film.

IT LOOKS LIKE WHAT I’M DEALING WITH RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW.

Susan, I…and many, I’m sure…are totally pleased and grateful you are an artist, and an extraordinary one, I want to add. The reality of this picture is heartwarming. Now it’s hard to do that with cold snow! You surely have a God talent. Deep thanks for not only having this gift, but for sharing it with us. I feel as if I’ve been touched by magic or, more accurately, a blessing. More, please!!
