A note from Rodika Tollefson, Editor-in-Chief:
We kick off our 120th anniversary year with a new edition of The Pen Woman magazine featuring some of our members’ latest achievements and inspirational ideas.
Our newest feature, In the Studio With…, highlights an artist member and her process. Read about Central New York Branch’s Katie Turner’s “Fifteen Minutes” technique for achieving a difficult task. Try it out and see if it can help you, too, gain more discipline during the creative process.
There are many great men behind our Pen Women, and we are pleased to feature one of them. Jim McGrath, of the D.C. Tenants Advocacy Coalition, has been a longtime benefactor of the League and recently made it possible for our historic Steinway piano to be restored. “The ‘Pen Man’ Behind Pen Women” talks about his support as well as other accomplishments.
The new installment of the “League’s Legends and Legacies” gives us a glimpse into NLAPW history through the accomplishments of charter member Virginia Campbell King Frye. And we are so excited to welcome her great-granddaughter, Dabney Denbrock Corbi, as one of our newest members-at-large.
Enjoy these excerpts from the magazine, and subscribe if you’d like to receive a beautiful print copy with all the articles. See The Pen Woman magazine page. And if you are a woman doing professional work in a creative field, consider joining the NLAPW sisterhood (and The Pen Woman subscription is yours, at no extra charge!). See the Membership page.
