Poem of the Week–Miller

WOW!

“LIVE LIFE IN RADICAL AMAZEMENT”*

Wow!

Is what he said. Wow. My kids say I say that a lot.
I mean a lot.
The audience laughed. Some may have known that
he says wow a lot.
Some thought it was funny the way he said it.
And then he followed it with a quote from
someone or other who said,

“Live life in radical amazement.”

And I thought YES. Why not?

Life is not predictable. It comes with a whoosh of air
and light. It comes on splatters of rain and in the flash
of lightning. It comes in the dregs of rotted garbage and
in the birth of a grapefruit.

Wonderment and amazement need no passport
and are not restricted by age.
Celebrate in the shower as the water cascades on
your skin and warms your heart.
Celebrate the moment of awakening to possibilities
for each day is unlike any other.
Celebrate the sound of the cicada and the squirrel
to remind you that nature is ever present.

Celebrate your birth day and the person you have become.

Again give yourself the permission to say WOW!

And live life in radical amazement.
